Alexandra and Frederic’s intimate wedding at The Knox
Alex and Frederic were married in a gorgeous ceremony at one of my favourite Ottawa wedding venues, The Knox. (Although I am a bit biased, as I got married at The Knox too!) Guests mingled with the happy couple through cocktail hour with harp music, switching over to a DJ for dinner and the rest of the celebration.
Ceremony music selections
I drew on the couple’s music selections for the ceremony to base my setlist for their prelude, postlude, and cocktail hour. Sticking with some classic harp-sounding pieces to highlight their venue’s fantastic acoustics like Samuel O Pratt’s The Little Fountain and a couple of Naderman’s sonatinas, coupled with contemporary pop covers like Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love for the perfect combination of familiar and classical.
The bridal party and groom walked down the aisle to Elton John’s Can You Feel the Love Tonight, which flowed gorgeously into Henry Mancini’s Moon River (with some glissandos to welcome the bride into the venue, of course). During the signing, their guests were kept company with How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding. It was the perfect piece to complement to the couple’s vows, which highlighted supporting and respecting each other forever, and truly going through life together as equals. The couple were celebrated as husband and wife to Say Hey (I Love You) by Michael Franti and Spearhead – a suggestion on my part that would sound nicer on the harp compared to the couple’s original selection of Rusted Root’s Send Me On My Way.
